Another road I never got to ride too often as once arriving at Toowoomba I did not know any good roads to make a loop ride out of, back via Flagstone creek or you have to ride a long way south making it too big a day but this is a nice ride and has some scenic spots, the Gus Beutel lookout is a must see. I also recommended visiting Lake Perseverance nearby.

I have removed the original post as it was too old, please see the map for location of this road.

yes great ride for beginers like me

  2. Hi – If you’re riding from Esk on the Hampton Rd, Lake Perserverance is a good ride. Turnoff the Hampton Rd to the right (North), about 40K’s from Esk. The ride is about 25K’s from the Hampton Road turnoff through to Crows Nest across the top of the dam wall. I like it because its like an old English country lane, its 100K zone and got some nice corners. Pleasant park with shade at the dam but no shops.(distances from memory, been a few months since I rode it)

  3. Thanks Jumi – I am going to try that ride in the near future!

  4. Ride it regularly and have been for 30 yrs..watch out for roadworks now as recent floods made one whole section drop down the side of the mountain..
